Shasta 2002-2010

We were going out of town for New Years, when to our great sadness, we found that our little Shasta had passed away during the night.  It was a shock to our entire family.  I was very grateful, however, that she passed away before we left.
Shasta was the very first addition to our little family.  Jeff and I bought her as a kitten shortly after we got married.  Jeff was not a cat person, at all.  He agreed to get a cat only if he could get a barbecue.  It didn't take long for Shasta to warm Jeff's heart, and soon she became part of the family. She was so cute as a little kitten!  When we would get home, she would stick her little head around the corner, and then run to meet us.  Sometimes she would be playing with her kitty sting toy, that we hung from the door, and would get herself completely tangled in it.
She was not like most cats, she was warm and loving.  She would always come down and greet us at the door when we came home.  When someone was in distress, Shasta would find them, and stay by them.  She never once scratched or bit anyone (except for when we gave her a bath).
Shasta was fiercely loyal.  There was a couple of times that a neighbors cat came through our cat door.  Jeff and I awoke to the scariest growls I have ever heard!  It was our sweet little Shasta, who normally had a very high girly meow.  Her growls and hisses were scarier then any dog that I've heard.  Apparently the cats thought it was scary too, because after a run in with Shasta, they made sure to steer clear of her.
We are sure going to miss our little Kitty Shasta.  Hunter reminded us that she just went to heaven, and that we would see her again.

We love you Shasta
