Christmas Eve Traditions

Jeff and I have come up with our own little family traditions for Christmas Eve. We love it! It's nice to have something that is our own. We started something new this year. Everyone had to come up with something to give Jesus. It could be anything, a song, a picture, a scripture, a thought. It just has to be something that you have thought about, and planned ahead of time. Hunter and I started out first. Hunter had learned all the words to Silent Night. He sang the song, and I played it for him on the piano. Hunter might have been off key, and their could of been some small mistakes played on the piano, but it turned out truly angelic.
Houston was next. He had colored a picture of the Nativity Scene. For someone who is not quite two, it was pretty good.
Jeff was last. His gift was to talk to the kids about Jesus, and why we celebrate his birth. It was a great reminder about the true meaning of Christmas.
After that, we got to do our regular traditions. The first thing we do is have the kids open one present. Some how magically the presents they open are always pajamas.
Two of the three kids are excited.

The next thing that we do, is open a family gift. This is always a new game. This year we got, "Don't Break the Ice." Houston just loved the game. While everyone is playing the game, we make hot chocolate. Houston was lucky this year, because he got his very own mug. It so happens to be a Houston Texan's mug.
After the hot chocolate has been drunk, and the game played. It's time to get milk, cookies, and carrots out for Santa and his reindeer. Hunter was excited, because he actually got to pour the milk himself this year.
We have a special Christmas cookie plate that Santa's cookies go on. After this, then the kids are off to bed, to let sugar plums dance in their heads.
